Allergan
Allergan offers a variety of patient assistance programs for some of its medications and treatments.
Bristol-Myers Squibb
Eligible patients who need assistance paying for their Bristol-Myers Squibb medicines may access a variety of programs for help on their site.
CIGNA
Cigna has introduced “Dollars and Sense”, which is a 12 category publication put together as a resource for people to follow to save money in areas such as medication, doctor visits, appropriate places dependent on your medical situation, and billing concerns.
CR Bard
Bard hopes to help alleviate the rising needs of food banks by making hunger the focus of its community service campaign, Bard Takes a Bite Out of Hunger.
CVS Caremark
CVS Caremark and Direct Relief USA announced that nearly 350 community clinics and health centers across the country have agreed to participate in CVS Caremark’s donation of up to $5 million in free shots to patients who lack health insurance. The participating clinics and health centers will identify uninsured individuals from their existing patient populations and provide them with a free flu shot voucher, which is redeemable at any CVS/pharmacy or MinuteClinic location.
Dominion
Dominion is offering “EnergyShare”, which is a fuel assistance program of last resort for anyone who faces financial hardships from unemployment or family crisis. A qualified individual can receive a one-time maximum payment of up to $300. Seniors — who do not have to have a disconnection notice — can receive a one-time maximum payment of up to $500.
Domino’s Pizza
Domino’s Pizza is offering pizza donations for charitable events primarily in Southeast Michigan, but Domino’s Pizza stores outside the area may also contribute at the discretion of the owner.
Eli Lilly
The “Lilly Cares” program assists uninsured patients with incomes less than 200 percent of the federal poverty level. In 2008, the Lilly Cares program assisted more than 173,000 patients, and distributed Lilly medications, valued at over $252 million, to eligible patients free of charge.
Gilead Sciences
Gilead has a number of programs available to provide assistance to patients in the United States who do not have insurance or who need financial assistance for certain medications.
Hormel Foods
Hormel Foods is active in the fight against hunger and contributes cash and in-kind donations to Feeding America and food shelves in their communities. Hormel Foods also developed a survey to better understand Americans’ attitudes and behaviors around poverty and hunger.
Johnson & Johnson
Johnson & Johnson’s “Access2wellness” program is the single entry point into one of the broadest selections of assistance programs available to help uninsured and underinsured people who qualify access prescription medications for free or at a discount.

Kmart is offering layaway plans for select items, including back to school offerings
Kraft Foods
Kraft Foods provides annual donations of $100 million in food, cash, & volunteer support to nonprofit organizations to address the many needs of communities.
Men’s Wearhouse
The Men’s Wearhouse holds an annual National Suit Drive in September. Men’s Wearhouse partners with over 200 nonprofit organizations across the country to distribute the gently used, professional clothing items that they collect to men transitioning into the workforce.
Oregon State University
Oregon State University has made available information for Oregon residents to help manage the recession.
Performance Food Group
Performance Food Group is helping to address the problem of hunger in America by partnering with America’s Second Harvest—The Nation’s Food Bank Network. Through more than 200 regional food banks, they distribute food to 23 million hungry Americans.
Pioneer Natural Resources
Pioneer created the Gas Assistance Program (GAP) in the Raton Basin operating area to help seniors on fixed incomes offset increases in city utility costs.
Pfizer
The Amigos En Salud program provides education, outreach, access, and self-management tools to help Latino patients with diabetes, diabetes-related complications, and co-morbid depression by trying to reduce risk factors. Pfizer supports peer educators trained in behavior change strategies and disease states.
The Pfizer MAINTAIN Program (Medicines Assistance for Those who Are In Need) provides free Pfizer medicines to qualified patients, delivered right to their home. This newly created program can help eligible patients who have recently become unemployed and are currently uninsured continue receiving their Pfizer medicines.
Quest Diagnostics
Quest Diagnostics offers several programs to assist individuals including, Financial Assistance Program, Free or Reduced Fee Laboratory Services and a Take Care Recovery Plan.
Reliant Energy
The Low Income Deposit (L.I.D.) Program assists customers in the Centerpoint (CNP) service area to pay the deposit for their electricity service. The program is based on an “Each One Help One” approach where, after a 12 month period, deposit amounts are placed back in the L.I.D. fund to be used for deposit assistance for another eligible family.
Southern Company
Southern Company’s “Project SHARE” provides emergency assistance to customers who need help with basic necessities—housing, food, medical care, and utility services.
US Dept. of Health and Human Services
LIHEAP, an initiative of HHS helps individuals find affordable energy in their particular state.
U.S. Oncology Foundation
The US Oncology Foundation offers emergency financial assistance to cancer patients currently in treatment to provide for living expenses (utilities, transportation, rent, mortgage payments). Funds are limited and initially available to patients undergoing cancer treatment in Texas.
VirginMobile
The Virgin Mobile Pink Slip Program will make your cell phone payments for you for up to 3 months if you lose your job while on a monthly plan.
Walgreens
Walgreens has announced their “Take Care Recovery Plan” to help current and future patients who have lost their jobs and are uninsured access to free healthcare visits.
Walmart
Walmart is offering their $4 Prescriptions Program to help customers save money on healthcare. The prices for these prescriptions are available for commonly prescribed dosages for up to 30-day or 90-day supplies.
WellPoint
The WellPoint plan is a blend of public and private initiatives aimed at ensuring universal coverage for children and providing new and more attractive options for the working uninsured. The plan also includes a financial commitment from the company’s charitable foundation of at least $30 million over the next three years to support community and state-based programs related to the company’s uninsured initiatives across the country that are helping to provide access to care.

General Electric Co.
Because of the recession, the foundation arm of General Electric Co. is changing its philanthropic focus to meet basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. A total of $20 million will be redirected to those areas, up from $5 million in 2008, or a 300% increase. If employees donate to organizations that help meet basic needs, the foundation will increase its dollar match to 2:1 for those funds, up from 1:1. Additionally, GE Foundation has directed its entire United Way donation for 2009 ($10.5 million) to basic-needs services.
Integrys Energy Group
Every fall, employees from Peoples Gas, North Shore Gas and Wisconsin Public Service volunteer for Team H.E.A.T. (Home Energy Assistance Together). This community initiative’s purpose is to weatherize homes for limited-income customers.
Kraft Foods
Kraft Foods provides annual donations of $100 million in food, cash, & volunteer support to nonprofit organizations to address the many needs of communities.
Kroger
Kroger continues their commitment in helping to feed the less fortunate and is one of the founding members of Feeding America the nation’s largest hunger relief organization. In the past five years, Kroger’s donations have totaled 139 million pounds of food – valued at $214 million.
Liz Claiborne, Inc
Through donating to Supports to Encourage Low-income Families (SELF), Liz Claiborne, Inc improves the quality of life for low income families.
McKesson
McKesson is part of the Electronic health records discussion and is committed to improve the healthcare system through the resources from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The legislation contains significant financial incentives, grants and loans to accelerate the adoption of health IT. Funds become available for physicians Jan. 1, 2011 and for hospitals Oct. 1, 2010.
Mutual of Omaha Insurance
Operating independent of the company, HALO is dedicated to assisting individuals and families in the Omaha metropolitan area with financial needs. HALO is able to provide aid to thousands each year through various ways, including helping families stay warm with energy bill assistance, assisting fire and flood victims who are left with nothing, and supporting families to help keep their house with rent and mortgage aid.
Nationwide
Nationwide has partnered with the Mid-Ohio Foodbank to help provide food to citizens in central Ohio. Their efforts help provide food to more than 500 food pantries in 20 counties.
Northern Trust
Northern Trust supports nonprofit organizations focusing on Social Welfare, Education, arts and Culture.
OGE Energy
Lend-A-Hand gives customers the opportunity to help those having trouble paying their utility bills by simply adding a few extra dollars with their OG&E payment after marking the Lend-A-Hand box. The entire contribution will be forwarded to The Salvation Army which then distributes the money to help pay for electricity, gas, fuel or firewood for neighbors in need.
Pfizer
The Balance it Out program improves the lives of children and families through communities and schools. Pfizer supports health educators trained in behavior change strategies and in disease states along with communities that embrace healthier food choices and more active lifestyles.
Rite Aid
Rite Aid continues to support the Children’s Miracle Network which helps children’s hospitals to ensure the best treatment possible for their patients.
Safeway
In 2007, Safeway’s U.S. retail operations donated $110 million worth of merchandise to food banks, soup kitchens, & various hunger relief programs. They also sponsor seasonal fundraising & food collection programs to assist regional hunger-relief agencies in their operating areas.
Smithfield Foods
Smithfield Foods focuses many of its community involvement efforts on feeding the hungry. Helping Hungry Homes supports families faced with food insecurity issues through four main courses of action.
Symetra Financial
Symetra Financial has begun their “Symetra Community Series,” a quarterly broadcast program that discusses relevant issues including poverty, health, and volunteering. The company holds various lectures and has brought in experts to educate listeners on retirement, financial burdens, health obstacles, and more.
Target
Target has partnered with Feeding America since 2001 to donate grocery items, expanding the partnership in 2006 with disaster preparedness and product donation of personal care and household items.
Wrigley
The Wrigley Foundation continues to refine its giving by focusing on issues for today’s youth and the environment. Wrigley has recently committed to give $5 million over 5 years to two outstanding organizations: the International Youth Foundation (IYF) and Conservation International.
Wyndham Worldwide
Wyndham Worldwide has partnered with Christel House International to improve the lives of impoverished children around the world by giving them educational and job opportunities, community support, health care, counseling and more.
